Youth Sports
2010 YMCA Youth Sports Presented by MVP Health Care 
The following programs are offered at the YMCA Westside Branch:
Preschool Recreation
ABC Active Gym I & II (12-36 months with parents or grandparents) Designed to promote movement and basic body awareness through gross motor activities, music, and circle time. This is a great opportunity for you and your preschooler to spend quality time together.
ABC Active Gym III (24-36 months without parent) Designed to help children separate from parents by developing independence, confidence, social, and physical skills. Lessons focus on small and large motor skills, group games and social play.
ABC Active Gym IV (3-5 years without parent) The last class in our series of active gym classes. Emphasizes more complicated motor skills. This class is designed for children who have experience being away from a primary caregiver. A weekly story or simple art activity is included.

Youth and Adult
Karate Children & Adults (novice & intermediate classes ages 5 and up) Provides a combination of mental, spiritual, and physical training, including basic kicks, punches, and blocks of traditional Karate. Students are taught practical self-defense techniques for any situation, as well as, Katas, Jujutsu, and Kobudo. The program encourages the growth of self-esteem and self-confidence.
Iddy Biddy Sports (ages 3-5) Introduces children to the games, rules, and fundamental skills of sports such as soccer, basketball, and floor hockey. This program also concentrates on teaching sportsmanship, positive competition, and building relationships between participants. YMCA core values and nutrition are discussed at each class with time for parents and their children to interact.
Youth Sports (6-12 years) Classes and leagues that will help your child be successful both on and off the field. Children will work on individual skill development, learn how to work as a team, and will be introduced to sport specific strategies. We provide an environment in which our athletes learn and understand the importance of positive competition, sportsmanship, healthy lifestyle choices, and the YMCA core values.
