Teens

Our goal is to provide quality Teen programming that will have a positive impact in these four main areas: personal growth, leadership training, service to others and social development. Programs and special events at the Westside YMCA Branch include:

GOT STRENGTH? Teen Strength Training Program

Improve strength, cardiovascular endurance, and flexibility with our strength training program created for young adults. Participants will be introduced to various forms of resistance training techniques, cardiovascular programs, flexibility exercises, nutrition and healthy lifestyles, as well as Wellness Center etiquette. Successful completion of the "Got Strength?" program is required for 12 year olds to use the Wellness Center. All participants receive a "Got Strength?" t-shirt and a certificate of completion upon successful completion of the "Got Strength?" Training program.

Minimum enrollment - 3 participants.

Members: $40
Program Members: $80

LEADERS CLUB

Join us on Thursdays from 7:00 - 8:30pm during the school year for YMCA Leaders Club. Our mission is to create, enhance, and strenghten sound values and character in our teens. After an initial character development discussion and review of current events, our planned schedule will include time to discuss upcoming activities, guest speakers, creative activities, and field trips. We will visit area colleges, businesses, sports facilities and other social outings. Volunteer efforts within the Y and our community will be a major focus of this group.The program includes the opportunity to take part in Teen Rallies throughout the Northeast and YMCA Leaders School, a week long summer leadership conference.

Teen & Adult Basketball

Full-court basketball is offered by age group during the week. Teams are divided as players arrive and all games are recreational.

Teen Basketball (14-18 yrs.)

Mondays
7:15-8:30pm

Tuesdays & Thursdays
7:30 - 8:30pm

Adult Basketball (19 +)

Monday - Thursday
8:30 - 10:00pm

Teen Swim Lessons - Beginner Class

Monday
8:05 - 8:45pm

This class is designed for those who are fearful of water and want to feel more comfortable in the water. Floating, gliding, rythmic breathing, front and back crawl will be the focus of this class.

Teen Swim Lessons - Intermediate/Advanced Class

Swimmers will refine existing skills in relation to team dynamics. The use of aquatic equipment will be used to enhance performance and success. Must be able to swim 25 yards each of the front crawl & backstroke.
